Our Story
About Starbound Letters
Founded by Cathy Ambrose — paper in her family for generations, and twelve years surrounded by art.

I've always believed that some things deserve to be kept. Not just photographs or family heirlooms, but words.
The right words can comfort us, encourage us, make us smile, help us heal, and stay with us long after the moment has passed. Yet in today's world, meaningful messages are often reduced to text messages, emails, and social media posts—read quickly and forgotten just as fast.
Starbound Letters was created to bring those words back into our hands.
My love for paper began long before Starbound. Paper has been a part of my family for generations. My father spent his career in the paper industry, followed by my brother and now my nephews. You could say that paper is in our blood.
Over the years, I developed a deep appreciation for handmade paper. To me, it has never been just a material. It is art. The texture, the fibers, the deckled edges, the weight, and the character of each sheet tell a story before a single word is ever written upon it. The way each sheet is uniquely imperfect—there is something deeply beautiful about holding something made by hand.
That appreciation grew even further during the twelve years I owned an art gallery. Surrounded by artists, craftsmanship, and creativity, I learned that the most meaningful pieces are often the ones that make us feel something. They connect with us. They stay with us.
Starbound brings together two things I have always loved: beautiful handmade paper and meaningful words.
Every Starbound Letter is thoughtfully written and beautifully printed on carefully selected handmade paper, paired with matching envelopes, and designed to be opened slowly, read thoughtfully, and treasured long after it arrives. Whether it's a Santa Letter, a message of encouragement, a heartfelt note, a personalized keepsake, or a simple One Liner, each piece is created with the belief that words still matter.
In a world moving faster every day, Starbound is a reminder to slow down. To send something meaningful. To tell someone they matter. To create a moment worth keeping.
Because beautiful words deserve beautiful paper.
Both are meant to be kept.
